Muy temprano en la mañana partimos desde Pucón a la conquista de esta montaña. Una vez en el centro de ski Araucarias, comienza el ascenso por entremedio de las canchas de ski hasta alcanzar nuestro primer punto de control al final de los remontes. Durante el verano es posible llegar a este punto en auto. Desde ahi la caminata se realiza por una zona relativamente plana hasta encontrar frente a frente al macizo donde comienzan diversos zig zag para montarse en las aristas que van conduciendo hacia la cumbre. 

El ascenso hasta la cumbre se realiza en aproximadamente 5 a 6 horas hasta el cráter. Desde ahí es posible observar la cumbre de numerosos volcanes hacia el Sur y hacia el Norte. 

El descenso se realiza generalmente por la misma ruta de ascenso aunque existen algunas oportunidades y viajes a medida que pueden modificar ese plan y descender por Conguillio, Captren o por la cara Sur del Volcán.
